Black History Month Showcase takes place

Feb. 20, 4-5 p.m.

The Black Student Union, ODI and Fiji are sponsoring a showcase for Black History Month. The event will be hosted virtually and in Hansen Student Center with up to 20 attendees. 

 

CAB presents Coffee and Boba Tea Night

Feb. 20, 7-8:30 p.m.

The Campus Activities Board (CAB) will be serving Fusion Brew drinks including milk tea, iced vanilla lattes and iced lattes. Drinks can be taken to-go or attendees can stay for a live stream with comedian Chris James. 

 

Student Senate holds general assembly

Feb. 21 6 p.m. 

The Student Senate will be hosting their general assembly meeting this Sunday virtually. Students are encouraged to attend these meetings as a way to voice their concerns about issues they feel need to be addressed on campus. 

 

Tributaries extend deadline

Feb. 21 11:59 p.m.

Tributaries, IWU’s undergraduate literary journal, extended their deadline after many students expressed interest in submitting their work, but not being able to do so by Valentine’s Day. Students who are interested in sending in their submissions should email iwutributaries@gmail.com by the new deadline.

 

GMT hosts training supply drive

Feb. 21-Feb. 27 

Global Medical Training (GMT) will be hosting a supply drive in partnership with Heartland Head Start to support children in low-income families in the Bloomington area during these unprecedented times. IWU will have a donation collection box location in Stevenson Hall. 

 

Academic Skills Series Continues

Feb. 22, 6-7 p.m.

Students can join the Action Research Center’s (ARC) weekly drop-in call on Monday evenings. This week’s topic will focus on improving your presentation skills. Students who are interested in attending should watch the pre-recorded video on the weekly topic here.

 

Angell Howard hosts “Stereotypes and Misconceptions”

Feb. 22, 7-8:30 p.m.

Part two of IWU’s “Unmasking your leadership potential” series. Angell will be speaking about what you believe and why it matters, how we can grow and change ourselves as leaders to continually increase our awareness, skills and knowledge. The event will be held via Zoom and the link will be sent out via email. These events are sponsored by OSI, ODI, ORL, CPH, IFC and the Hart Career Center. 

 

IWU presents ¡Tu Universidad!

Feb. 23, 7-8:30 p.m.

“¡Tu Universidad!” is designed to help Latinx students and their parents learn more about the university community, the admissions process and all financial aid resources. Participants will meet current students, faculty and staff. All sessions will be held virtually and will be translated into Spanish.  

 

Idea Center hosts a movie night

Feb. 24, 7 p.m.

The Idea Center will be showing the film One Night in Miami which is a Golden Globe nominee. Popcorn and snacks will be provided at the event.

 

Mid-Semester Grades due

Feb. 26

Midterm grades for students will be posted to track student progress for the Spring Semester. Midterm grades can be accessed through the student’s myiwu portal. 

 

JWP submissions due 

Feb. 26 4:30 p.m.

Students who are participating in the John Wesley Powell Student Research Conference must register by the new deadline to present their work. Students who plan to submit their work need to fill out this application form. Students can email Amy Jo Perez aperez@iwu.edu for any questions they may have.
