Kaylee’s Korner: Johnson was a good catch for the Bears

On Tuesday, January 21, the Chicago Bears signed Ben Johnson, former offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, to be their new head coach. This was an excellent choice.

Ben Johnson has play-calling abilities that most coaches dream about. He led the Lions’ offense to a top five offense spot for the three consecutive years he was offensive coordinator. Johnson is also credited for the revival of Jared Goff, Lions quarterback. Who’s to say he can’t do it for the Chicago Bears? Perhaps this explains why he was led to Chicago by the component of Bears starting quarterback Caleb Williams.

Williams is happy with this pick. “He’s a no nonsense guy, he’ll always have my back, he’ll always give me support,” Williams said of Johnson according to the BearsWire.

It also helps that Johnson is passionate about the NFC North. He wanted to stay in the division, and described it as “the toughest division in football,” according to the NFL. Considering three of NFC North’s teams made it to playoffs, one Johnson helped lead, he has the ability to elevate the Bears and make the NFC North a dominant division in the NFL.

Johnson is a hopeful addition to the Bears coaching staff, one I think fans will be impressed with in the coming seasons.
