Illinois Wesleyan’s literary journal is accepting spring submissions

Tributaries is Illinois Wesleyan University’s literary journal and is always hungry for submissions. Usually, non-English majors tend to hesitate before submitting.

Let’s get it out of the way. You don’t have to be an English major to submit. You could be any kind of major and submit. The editorial board doesn’t care what you are, so long as you write or create art that speaks to your soul.

In the past, Tributaries has accepted art and literature of all kinds. Pieces don’t have to be in English either. The magazine has accepted non-English poetry with the translated piece next to it or a mixture of languages with footnotes to let people know what was written.

The purpose of Tributaries is to create a community within Illinois Wesleyan, no matter the creative type. At the end of the day we are all students, we are all people and we all have souls.

Doubt leads to doing nothing. Instead, do it anyway. Courage can come from doubt, leading to surprising new roads. There’s a creative streak in everyone. You could be a poet, a writer, an artist of paint, ceramics, photography or charcoal art. The possibilities are endless.

So, stop. Look inside. Find your creativity and submit to Tributaries. The Spring submission deadline is March 2nd at 11:59 p.m., so don’t be late.
