Crawfordsville, IND. – The Illinois Wesleyan University track and field team opened their outdoor season on Saturday, April 8 at the Huntsman Family Invitational, hosted by Wabash College.

The two-hour trip east didn’t stop the Titans from running away with seven individual first-place finishes.

On the team side of things, the women garnered 158 points, good for a second-place finish. While the men tallied 138 points, which earned the team third.

After earning indoor All-CCIW honors in the 5000-meter and 3000-meter, sophomore Annalese Chudy continues to etch her name into IWU history.

Chudy secured first in the 5000-meter race as she cleared the 12 other racers with her time of 17:50.13. With that time Chudy now claims the seventh-fastest time in IWU history for the 5000-meter race.

Also coming off a sensational indoor campaign is junior Lauren Wong who landed a first-place finish in the triple-jump event with a mark of 11.37 meters.

With a 0.01-second lead ahead of the pack junior Avery Smith was able to claim first in the 100-meter race.

Rounding off the women’s first-place finishers was freshman Adrianna Crabtree.

In her first collegiate race in the 3000-meter steeplechase, Crabtree was able to blow by the rest of the field with her time of 12:09.72.

On the men’s side, sophomore Alex Harvey leaped past the competition in the 400-meter hurdles with his winning mark of 58.12.

The fourth-fastest 200-meter mark in IWU history came from the legs of first-year Evan Lowder who continues to impress with his all-time performances.

Not letting Lowder have all the first-year fun was Jahari Scott who leaped past the field of 26 competitors in the long jump with a mark of 6.71 meters.

The first-place finishes propelled the Titans in the right way but the 33 top-five finishes are what placed the Titans so high in the leaderboards.

An all-around stellar performance from the team as they look on to the future.

Both programs are set to travel to Wheaton College on Saturday, April 15, at the Wheaton Invitational.
