SOTA presents “Stage Door”

March 12-14

The School of Theatre Arts production of “Stage Door” will be streaming on-demand at showtix4u starting March 12 through March 14. The performance will include closed captioning. 

 

CAB hosts “Paint Night Live”

March 12, 6 p.m.

The Campus Activities Board (CAB) will be giving students the opportunity to go to either Young Main Lounge or Hansen Student Center to learn how to paint a masterpiece with Evan Struck. 

 

Tributaries and Lyrical Graffiti present Rudy Francisco

March 12, 7-8:30 p.m.

Tributaries and Lyrical Graffiti will be hosting a live poetry event with Rudy Francisco. Francisco will be giving a spoken word performance. Those who are interested in attending should email [email protected] or check myiwu for the Zoom link. 

 

Elizabeth Schlicht hosts practice interviews

March 12, 2 p.m.

IWU alum Elizabeth Schlicht will be helping music or marketing students explore career options and develop interview skills. Schlicht was a School of Music student, but she decided to go in a different direction. She is currently the Executive Director of the Association Acumen in Milwaukee utilizing her skills in non-profit management in marketing. Students who are interested in attending should log in to their Handshake account using their IWU credentials where they can submit a resume and choose a timeslot. 

 

PISAB hosts “Undoing Racism” workshop

March 13-14, 9-12 p.m.

The People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond (PISAB) will be hosting a two-day student workshop on undoing racism sponsored by SOTA and funded by the Healing Illinois Grant. The purpose of the workshop is to give the student theatre community a common understanding and analysis of racism: how it was created, how it is maintained and how it shows up in us and our communities. The workshop will prioritize student attendance, but students must commit to attending both days. All students are encouraged to attend. The international office holds passport acceptance fair

March 13, 1-4 p.m.

The International Office will be hosting a passport acceptance fair where a passport agent will be on hand to review student materials and accept applications. The office will cover application fees for up to 20 students on a first-come, first-serve basis. Students can contact Stacey Shimizu [email protected] or [email protected] for more information. Students who are interested in attending should also follow the instructions detailed in this link to prepare for the fair in advance. 

 

Student Senate holds general assembly

March 14, 6 p.m.

All student senate meetings for the Spring 2021 semester will be held via Zoom. All of the meetings are open to the entire student body. Students are encouraged to attend and discuss issues they feel need to be addressed on campus. 

 

Department of English holds creative writing contests

March  15, 4 p.m.

The English Department will be accepting submissions for three creative writing contests including a poetry contest, a short-fiction contest and an essay contest. There will be a $100 prize for each contest winner. The contests are open to all current students and students can submit one entry for each contest. Entries for the contests should be emailed to [email protected] by 4 p.m. on March 15. 

 

OSI hosts “Leading Through Uncertainty”

March 16, 7-8:30 p.m.

Part four of student involvement’s “Unmasking Your Leadership Potential” series. James T. Robilotta will be speaking about leading through uncertainty. The Zoom link information will be sent to students via email. 

 

ODI presents “Immigration in America”

March 18, 4-5:30 p.m.

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion will be presenting a film on Immigration in America as part of their 3D series. The presentation will be offered virtually through Zoom. Those who are interested in attending should contact Veronica Torres Luna [email protected]
