    Career Center hosts “For Your Future Friday” on resumes January 17

    As a part of their series titled “For Your Future Friday,” the Career Center will host a resume work-shop for students.

    Create a resume (and cover letter) that employers will notice. Students planning to search for internships or conduct a job search this year are encouraged to attend and learn what employers want to see on your resume & things to avoid.

    The presentation will take place in the Welcome Center auditorium.

    CAB offers Winter Bingo January 17 at 7:30 p.m.

    Win prizes like AirPods, wireless Beats headphones, a TV, vacuum, Keurigs, groceries and so much more at Winter Bingo.

    The event will be sponsored by Campus Activities Board and take place in Young Main Lounge.

    IWU observes Martin Luther King Day January 20

    Classes will not take place. A number of activities and workshops will be held and students are encouraged to check MyIWU to register.

    Career Center holds weekly Walk-In Wednesday January 22 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

    The Hart Career Center will hold their weekly walk-in for for students to get their resumes checked, ask internship questions, and practice interview questions.

    Students interested should visit the Hart Career Center on the second floor of the Welcome Center.

    Merwin Gallery presents artist talk January 22 at 10 a.m.

    Kirsten Valentine will give a talk in conjunction with her exhibit, RANCH STYLE HOUSE, now on display in the Merwin/Wakeley Gallery. All are welcome to attend.

    IWU hosts MLK Teach-In January 22 at 11 a.m.

    The keynote address, entitled “Dr. King: Who Was He Really?” will be given by Sundiata Cha-Jua, Associate Professor of History and African American Studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. This event will take place at Han-sen Student Center.

    ReligiosTEA to take place January 22 at 4 p.m.

    ReligiosiTEA is a weekly gathering that celebrates religious and worldview diversity, builds up interfaith literacy, engages important topics ranging from faith practices to politics, and fosters interfaith dialogue and community on our campus. All are welcome for tea, coffee, treats and great discussion. The event will be held in the basement of Evelyn Chapel.

    IWU holds Study Abroad Fair January 23 at 4 p.m.

    Whether you’re just getting started or ready to apply, the IWU Study Abroad Fair is a perfect next step! Advisers and program representatives will be there to answer questions.

    Organizers will be doing a raffle at the Fair and students are encour-aged to stop by for a chance to win one of three Amazon gift cards. The event is sponsored by the International Office and will take place in Vinyard Room in Memorial Center.

    Interviews can be challenging experiences but preparation is key. Can you provide behavioral examples of your strengths? Do you know what questions to ask? This presentation will give you the knowledge & confidence you need to make every interview a great interview. This presentation will take place in Welcome Center auditorium.

    IWU holds “Pursuing Passions, Claiming Callings”: A Lunch & Learn Alumni Panel January 29

    All IWU students are welcome to attend this Alumni Panel Event. Alums working in various professions from various worldviews will speak about the ways they experience their work and commitments as a calling; how they’ve navigated failure and celebrated successes; how they’ve discovered a deeper purpose to their work; how their passions and callings have changed over time; how their beliefs (religious, spiritual, secular) have shaped their lives. Lunch will be provided.

    This event will take place in the Hart Career Center.

    Posse Plus Retreat to happen January 29 through January 30

    The retreat is free for all students, faculty and staff.

    Participation is limited to 100 registrants and registration will close January 20.

    Students interested should contact the Dean of Students office ([email protected]) or any Posse Scholar.
