The Argus’ reasons to push for impeachment

admin

The formal proceeding to impeach Trump began in September prompted by a series of controversial communications with the Ukraine.

Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi announced the beginning of the investigation into Trump’s shady business.

Here at the Argus, we have compiled a list of the poor decisions the Trump administration has made while in office, focusing on health care, immigration and environmental issues.

  • Trump’s administration proposed a plan to loosen regulations on short-term insurance, making it increasingly difficult for people to be granted.
  • He signed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act this repealed the Obamacare tax on those who don’t get health insurance
  • Trump stopped reimbursing insurers for low-income deductible and co-pay waivers, while similataneously raising the prices of insurance premium.
  • Trump’s administration allowed sevens states to impose work requirements on Medicaid recipients who originally gained coverage under the Affordable Care Act.
  • Increased construction of detention facilities and detention of immigrants while the executive order did not specify the source of funding for the construction, it will be allocated to detention facilities.
  • Trump made a promise during his presidential campaign to construct a wall as a means of higher-quality Border Security completely disregarding its negative impacts to foreign relations.
  • Trump’s administration limited access to asylum-seekers while enforcement personnel expedited removal and deny interviews to those in peril.
  • Cancelled DACA programming, pushing an entire generation of Dreamers into the risk of deportation at any given moment.
  • Created enforcement priorities to allow the deportation of anyone who has committed even a minor offense, such as a traffic violation or jaywalking.
  • Pulled the US out of Paris Climate Agreement, indicating that the world’s second largest polluter would not reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
  • Rescinded methane-flaring rules, allowing a gas that is 30 times more potent of a greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide to be released into the environment at an accelerated rate.
  • Trump officials propose changes to handling the Endangered Species Act, which if passed will allow developers to increasingly disregard the presence of endangered species.
  • Trump dropped climate change from list of national security threats, although several coastal cities such as Miami and Charleston already face the challenges of sunny-day tidal flooding.
  • Rolled back safety measures that regulated offshore drilling operations, decreasing safety measure on rigs that prevent severe oil explosions.

Official reasons for Trump’s potential impeachment include: obstruction of justice, violating the Foreign Emoluments Clause and Domestic Emoluments Clause, advocating illegal violence and several other abuses of power.
